The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a thinner frame, a better battery, and a larger front screen. But its cameras and software haven't changed much.
Design and Display
Samsung increased the front screen size to 4.1 inches. It's bright, smooth, and easy to read in sunlight. Two small camera cutouts are the only breaks in the display.
Despite the larger screen and battery, the Flip 7 is thinner. It measures 6.4mm when open and 13.7mm when folded. This makes it the thinnest Flip yet.
The front screen can now achieve 2,600 nits of brightness and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. 3. Samsung shrank the bezels by using a fresh waterproof coating beneath the screen. They are now only 1.25mm wide.
The main screen is also bigger at 6.9 inches, up from 6.4 inches. Samsung improved the fit of videos by switching to a 21:9 screen ratio. However, despite being taller, the screen is still difficult to use with one hand.
The hinge feels stronger than before. It clicks shut with a solid snap. You’ll need a bit more force to open it, which makes the phone feel sturdy. The crease is still there, but it's hard to notice unless you look for it.
Camera
This year's camera configuration is identical to previous year's. It has a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. There’s also a 10MP inside camera, but it’s better to use the rear cameras for selfies.
Photos look best in daylight. Night Mode works well but can make skin tones look fake. You can take 50MP photos for more detail, but there's no zoom lens. You're limited to 2x digital zoom.
Video quality is better now. It records in 10-bit HDR for richer colors. You can hold the phone like a camcorder, which is fun and easy.
Software and Features
The Flex Window got a size upgrade, but not many new features. Samsung added some tools to improve photo and video use. Icons move out of the way so your face stays clear. Filters show live previews now.
Samsung also added the Now Bar and Now Brief. These features show things like weather, rideshare updates, and fitness info. You can check them without opening the phone.
You can use Google’s Gemini AI right from the front screen. But to run most other apps, you still need to install Samsung’s Multistar app. Only six apps work by default on the Flex Window, which is odd. Netflix is one, but common apps like Gmail are not.
Battery and Performance
The Flip 7 has a bigger 4,300mAh battery. It lasts much longer than the Flip 6. In our tests, it played video for 18.5 hours—up from 13 hours last year.
It uses Samsung’s new Exynos 2500 chip. Performance is smooth, even when gaming or using AI tools. But the phone gets warm during heavy use, like maps or camera tasks.
Battery life is strong. I got a day and a half from a full charge with normal use. Charging speed is slow, though. It only supports 25W wired charging, which Samsung still calls "Super Fast Charging." Many phones now offer 45W or more, so this feels behind.
Final Thoughts
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 looks better and lasts longer. Samsung made smart design changes, like the slimmer body and larger screens. But the cameras haven’t changed, and the Flex Window still feels limited.
Samsung should let users run more apps on the small screen without extra steps. The phone has room to grow in both software and camera tech.
If you want a foldable with long battery life and a stylish look, the Flip 7 is a good pick. But if camera quality is your top need, you’ll have to look at the Fold 7 instead.
